Erie, and Gettsyburg Pennslvania and the Biehns

Well, I'm finally getting around downloading our recent trip to PA.

let me tell you we almost didn't make it! We were supposed to leave our house for Ontario airport at 4:15 am in the morning ( awful time!) so Bill set the alarm for us to get up at 3:45 am to have time to dress, gather our stuff and be on our way. Problem was B ILL set it for PM and not AM..by a mere coinsidence Bill work up at 4:14 am.. he yelled the alarm didn't go off. We both flew out of bed, yes, I wish we would have had it on tape, it was crazy!, he didn't shave, I didn't wear makeup and in 7 minutes were out the door. What a way to start the day.

But we arrived in PA and so excited to be there,

here are some pictures,

The next day we all drove to Gettsyburg, it's beautiful and really I think a sacred spot,

the Railroad station is where Lincoln arrived to give his talk. By the way, he was not the main speaker, another man spoke for two hours, and then Lincoln spoke for 3 minutes, but it was so important. I hadn't realized that the reason for him coming was to dedicate the area as a national cemetery for the Union and Confederate soldiers. The battle had been fought in July and it was now November, and had recently cleaned up the area and buried the many thousands of soldiers.

WE also went to the small town of where Flight 93 crashed, that was really wonderful to, We felt a good spirit there and honor the brave people who were on that flight.
I wish I could figure out how to put pictures in the right order, but oh well, at least I got some of them up.
We just had such a great time being with Jeff and Carolee and kids. The kids were so happy to see us . I'm so impressed with the great friends Jeff and Carolee have made. I know after four years it will probably be sad for them to leave Erie.
We look forward to going again.

Nothin Excites me like a good SALE

Yesterday my good friend Karen Ginn emailed me and said that there was going to be a sale for model home furnishings at reduced prices. Okay, I'm there! so we met at 7:30 am to go to a wearhouse in Chino. Fun Fun Fun, I called my daughter Kristen and she also got some great things ( the pictures are hers) but she got two fabulous big stuffed chairs for $85.00 each! oh, that cute little chest of drawers was $15.00 ( that goes to Candice) it matches a crib we are saving for her when the good news happens.
I guess they only do this once a year, so hopefully I'll hear about it next year.

more pictures of Groom Creek

The grandkids love hearing stories from Grandpa. He told them about his youth.
Little Bridget especially loved hearing how he got his "scars".
The above picture is Bridget giving cousin Kate a "makeover" ( Mack looks on with approval) it was Bridget's birthday present from me. I have to tell you it was a HIT, she took that eveywhere she went. She is such a girlie girl!

Fun Vacation

Our family was finally able to go back to our cabin near Prescott Arizona. Back in 1947 my mom and dad bought a cabin in the pines. I grew up there each summer and I have wonderful memories. It was long time coming to be able to go back with my children. It was heaven. The weather was perfect and the grandkids had a fun time. The creek was running, we had two quads up there, and the visiting and food was fabulous.

here are some fun pictures of being together. We are headed up there again next summer!

Pennsylvania was GREAT

Last week I flew to PA to see Carolee and kids. I had such a great time. Carolee lives in cute house with tons of room! Brooklyn and Trenton were so happy to see me, it was so fun to get out of the car and see them running to me with thier arms outstretched to give me a hug. We did some serious shopping for two days to get some fun things for her house. We also did some major grocery shopping. I had fun cooking some meals. The kids love my pumpkin bread and that is what Trenton is doing helping me stir the batter. The last picture is when I was ready to leave for the airport. Brooklyn was so sad, so I tried cheering her up by telling her I was coming back in just 6 weeks. She told me she wanted me to drive back and bring "everybody" she is missing her cousins.
Jeff is awesome! I"m so proud of him being Dr. Biehn, what hard hard work he has put in. Carolee is awesome for being such a supportive wife and great mom. It's always so fun to be with thier family.
Bill and I will be returning in October to see them, and all of us will take a short side trip to Gettysburg. Can't wait.
Forgot to mention the first picture is what it looks like next to Lake Erie, this is about 10 miles from Carolee's house. so beautiful. Oh, and one more thing, that great big Fruit picture is awesome, we bought it at Kirtland in Pittsburgh after she picked me up from the airport. But when we bought it and took it outside to put in the car it took us about 20 mins of sweat to fit in into the car! Crazy Crazy but we sure love the picture!

Shake Shake Shake

Today was a bit scary! This isn't the first time I've been in an earthquake, but each time it's so unnerving. The scary part is wondering if it's going to get worse, or if you are going to die!

you just panic, not knowing the safest place to go to in your house. Well, gratefully it didn't last long and no injury. Several things feel off but nothing broken

However, 1 hour later I had to go and get a root canal done, Now that is the pits too!
so tonight, I have tender tooth and bit of frazzle nerves

Tomorrow will be better!
