update on what's going on

okay Melissa this is for you! since not many people read my blog or comment, I think I'm talking to my self! but here is what has been happening since my last blog. ( pretty much nothing ! )
I did have a great time going to Kristen's house and being with her. We had a good day, helping her get caught up with laundry, cleaning and yes, I did homemade rolls and meatloaf for her family's dinner.
Yea, I know why I was dragging so much, the dang eye drops for my glaucoma was killing me!
I've switched medications and it seems to be much better, except I have to do the drops twice a day, and gag.. it trinkles down your throat from your eyes somehow and it's the WORST tasting stuff ever. How fun to think I get to taste it twice a day for the rest of my life.
Today I also had a general physical, it's not fun getting older, but I want to stay in good health!
I had an EKG, and bloodwork done up.
Then I went to Walmart, I have to gear myself up to go in that store. It's a love hate relationship with me, I hate all the time it takes me to go there, but I love the good prices.
February we'll have some fun times with relatives coming to stay with us so they can go to Disneyland. Of course, I'm busy doing genealogy research, and I'm excited to learn to do some new baby quilts that Sue Kern is going to teach.
Well, sorry my life seems pretty boring to read about, but I'm happy with it!

Not too much going on

It's funny that it was only three weeks ago that it was Christmas but already it seems like a long time ago!
I've enjoyed the rain, and at night boy do I love a cup of hot chocolate and of course a few marshmellows in the cup!

Not a lot to report, tomorrow I'm going with my good friend Marlene to the temple, it's always nice to go and to feel the peace there. I'm doing some family names that I have personally researched so that will be nice.

I laugh inside when people say, "my family's work is all done" oh brother, I challenge anyone to really have it all done! I there is always an aunt or uncle or thier family or distant cousin who needs temple work! But since I have a paid subscription to get census records you really see that there are just tons and tons of distant relatives that are out there.

I'm getting a bit discouraged because medicine the dr. has perscribled ALWAYS makes me feel tired. I feel like I can only put in half of a day. I going to give him a call and say "what's up with this!"

have a good day everyone.

Happy Birthday to Melissa

Another special day celebrating Melissa's birthday. It 's fun to go back 34 years ago and think about the gift that was given to me. Melissa was a bit of a surprise to us all because Joy was only 9 months old when I found out I was expecting again, and this was even after a miscarriage!
I had a good pregnancy but during the last two months we moved to Tucson, Arizona. I was so homesick! I had never lived far from home before, and moving into a new ward, new town was a bit much for me. Since I didn't want to change doctors I decided to just live with Bill's parents and wait for our delivery. Melissa was a week overdue, but the day finally arrived for me to go to the hospital. What a surprise I had when I got checked. I was dilated to a 5.... yippee... Then the doctor broke my water, and boom... about 10 minutes of pushing came and there she was!

That is the perfect way to have a baby! We were thrilled with our new arrival, she was blonde, and had a very round face! ( you can ask Ryan about the round face thing, he laughs and laughs)
Melissa was a good baby, and we were still staying with the Mccooks, but for some reason I was so very tired! I couldn't get my strength up. Then the bomb burst! One night I bled and bled, and to keep the gorey details short, I bled so much that finally I couldn't move. ( Bad sign) they had to carry me out to the car rush me to the hospital and there they discovered that part of the placenta was still inside me which was causing all the bleeding. My blood pressure had fallen 70 over 0.... I was near dead. Quickly they pumped some blood into me and then did emergency surgery. I believe I was given 4 units of blood.
I stayed in the hospital for a few days and then was able to come back home and recover.
I prayed a lot those days, Begging the Lord to give me a chance to raise my babygirl. It was very scary and I came very close to dying. Giving birth is a miracle, but having everything turn out okay is a blessing.
We adjusted to life in Tucson and grew to love it there. Melissa was about the cutest thing ever!
She had a friendly personality. Everyone loved her. She is just like Bridget, but I think a bit less sassy! She made us laugh all the time. She was a busy child. She loved to draw, but she was especially good at making messes! And always too tired to help clean up.
She had beautiful blue eyes and hardly any hair, she also was slow at learning to talk, but certainly made up for it as a teenager on the phone!
Melissa is very smart, she always did well in school, she was good at the piano even though she hated to practice. She loved her sisters and she loved her cousins.
When she was little she would always leave me little notes that told me she loved me.
I'm really proud of what a wonderful mother Melissa is to her children. She has tons of patience and was so awesome taking care of the twins. Melissa has been a blessing in my life, she has taught me many things and I believe she has helped to refine me as a person. I love her very much and proud of her.
Happy Birthday Melissa, January 6th 1974
love,
mom

Back to normal?

Well, I have to say what a great Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year. Tonight we are back home, it's quiet and it's "a good thing".

I had tons of fun but glad to get back to normal, ( what is that?)

Really being with family is just the very best for any holiday. I love my family so much, and I love my cousins. It's so fun to be with everyone. Just sharing memories, and visiting.

Dad and I are planning a trip to Nauvoo, we are excited! It's fun to learn and share new experiences. Believe me 25 years ago, I just thought these fun times would never come, but they do, so just enjoy the times that you are having now.

here are some of the latest pictures I've taken over the holidays
