Fun pictures and Stuff

tomorrow Carolee flys to Pennsylvania to check out the housing. I'm excited for them but can hardly stand thinking about Brooklyn and Trenton being gone for 5 years. When they come back I'll be so old! I hope to visit them at least twice a year, and if she comes at least once a year, I think I can manage it.

Stress release, I got my talk written for Sunday, now I just have to prepare a talk for leadership meeting and then I'm home free and all I"m going to do is think about Kristen having her baby and playing the grandma roll!

okay, to explain the pictures. When Melissa and Candice were here we celebrated Easter early and had the egg hunt and enchiladas! yum, we had Kristen's friend come over and snap our picture, we are becoming quite the big group! Thanks Kristina for doing that for us.

The twins will be gettting baptized, so I took this picture to put in front of thier baptism book I'm doing for them, the picture of Emily is actually my baptism dress.. so it's 48 years old people! I'm going to have all my grand daughters take a picture of them in the dress.

and then here is cutie Nate, this is when I was at Taryn's house, when baby Thompson comes I'm sure I'll be posting more baby pictures,

here is a cute picture of Melissa's girls playing together, isn't that sweet? ( I thought it would post here, but it went to the top of the page.
Well, this posting isn't very organized, but at least it's an update.

Fun Week

Don't youjust hate it when some stranger gets on your blog and leaves comments.. Now I'm taking about some computer person, who tries to sell something or leave a virus ... Not people who are friends of friends!
Anyway one left an anoymous comment, I tried to delete it and of course I deleted the whole post. sorry it was my cutie grandson Nate!
This past week has been fun and busy. Melissa and Jess and family came and Candice and Troy.
We had our "Easter" celebration and trip to Disneyland. Oh, the poor tired feet! The grandkids are so cute, and they were all so well behaved. Disneyland was perfect, and so was the weather!

I was off to the Bishop's storehouse yesterday with two good friends. Really you all must go! it's so easy and when you are with friends it's fun. I'm going to get a good wheat grinder that they showcase there.

Good news, the medication that I'm now taking is working in lowering the pressure in my eyes! What a relief.
Oh yes, I was asked to speak in Church. Ugggg, that is tough for me! for some it is easy, but trying to be interesting and doing a good job on a subject they give is a challenge.

here is our latest family picture, I'm really proud of my family, and I love them all so much.

Going in to LA

I'm excited Thurday I"m going in to LA to be with Taryn and Nate all day! we are going to make some pumpkin bread, maybe banana bread, and show Taryn how to do a quilt, and of course play with Nate! Ryan is in Park City skiing, well at least I hope he's skiing and not falling down the mountain breaking any bones!

I'm excited to have Candice and Troy, Melissa and Jess and kids come this weekend. We will do our family easter egg hunt on Sunday after church. Our family's tradition is to put money in the eggs. Since we have been doing that even the adults thing finding eggs is fun! We will celebrate Candice, and Trenton's birthday. Candice has requested my homemade enchildas which by the way are "stinking good" it' s the way my mom made them, so therefore are called, "Grannie's enchiladas" The tortillas are flat and stacked and then you top it off with a fried egg! Yum, Carolee is making the cake with the cream cheese on top and then strawberry toping and fresh strawberries.

The weather here is absolutely beautiful. I'll post some fun pictures after Sunday!

the Pie and tie was a success!

We had a nice crowd last night at the stake center, I believe over 100 were there, we got lots of quilts tied, and other humanitarian needs completed. A newspaper person was there taking pictures and she was so impressed with what the Church does for others so I think that will be a nice write up. We also had a group of women from the Muslim mosque who came and helped out. I thought that was great!

But boy do I feel tired today.... I'm draggin.... just now got my car cleaned out, I have about 7 quilts to bind to finish them up.

We have some of our favorite company over now. My niece Shari always brings me something really cute for my house, but best of all she is such a decorator and helps me re-arrange things and Randy even does some little handiman things. Boy do they spoil me.

I'm going to post of picture of the Pie and Tie and also of my daffodils.

The Daffodils are in Bloom

Every year I love when my bulb flowers come up! It really gives me joy! Be it known now on my grave I want daffodils planted on top on me! Ryan planted these several years back for mother's day, he wasn't too "keen" on the idea but I told him I loved them and it would bring me joy for many years! I'll try to get a picture. Now there isn't that many but I just love them.

Next week will be a bit stressful for me. It' s the stake Relief Society humanitarian event. I surely hope we are to accomplish all that we set out to do. We just need helping hands to get everything done. So please come if you are in the area.
I also leaned how to make baby quilts a new way, it was so fun and easy. These are the quilts we are donating to Loma Linda Hospital.

I bought two new coats for me, yeah, I can finally button them up. My last coats were about 11 years ago when I was MUCH thinner.... boo hoo

I'm a HOT mama

okay, not what you are thinking, this menopause thing is just stupid... One minute you feel like you are in the hottest desert sweating, and in 5 minutes I'm shivering. You should just see how fun it is when you are trying to sleep. The covers go off and on about a hundred times a night!

What is the purpose of this? How come men skate through the transition of middle age? NO fair here!

Other than that, I'll tell you about Saturday. As you all know we live in a home that is 30 years old next month. We are slowing fixing up and replacing seems about everything! I had hired a man to come over and put in a new bathroom faucet, toilet paper holder, and light fixture. No problem, he was good and price was right. After working 1 1/2 hours on the faucet we turn it on and discover that the sink hole had finally deteriated enough that the fitting wasn't tight enough , hense, I would always have a leafly sink... so I have to get a NEW sink, re do the faucet, and the bad news is that just the week prior I had hired a reglazing company to come out and reglaze the dang sink so it would look like new again. Such is the story of my life and home improvements!

Yesterday was ward conference for another ward in the stake. Our presidency goes and visits the RS there, it was all wonderful, enjoying the moment until what do you know I hear the person conducting say these mighty words, "and now we'd like to invite our president up to say a few words," ahhhhhhh that terrifies the heart, I need two weeks to prepare to say anything a bit knowledgeable. Geeeesh... so scary for me, I still wonder why in the heck it's me and not someone cool, calm and collected!

Hey, I have a great connection to MRE meals if any of you are interested, of course it's a ward here in Calif. ordering them for us. By the way, they had 12 meals out that you could taste test. I was impressed, they were good!

well here is a picture of my faucets and new bathroom.

until next time.

busy weekend

This weekend was fun. We had company from out of town. My sister and her husband came along with thier son and daughter and families. The reason we get visitors is because we live close to Disneyland! I know the truth is that they don't come to California to stay with us!, but whatever the reason we have fun. The little ones are so cute, it's fun to see how excited they are to see Disneyland. I enjoy watching them, they really are all such cute kids.
I really enjoyed President Hinckley's funeral. What a great man he was and Is! he's such an inspiration to work hard all your days. He was an ordinary man who became extraordinary.
He did so much and accomplished so much. I just really loved him.
Today was the superbowl, I'm not much of a football fan, but I really wanted the Patriots to win, mainly because my son in law Jeff is such a Patriot fan. I felt so bad for him! How sad to loose the last 35 seconds of the game.. Ouch, it must be painful for them all.

Well, that pretty much was my weekend, Have more visitors coming this month
will be fun.
