We were nervous but anxious to have this procedure done. Bill has been shaking more and more with his Parkinson's disease. We however feel that we were blessed to find two wonderful , smart neurosurgeons willing to help him in this endeavor. Dr. Frank Hsu is wonderful!
the night before surgery Ryan came over and gave Bill the most beautiful blessing ever. It gave us so much peace and hope for a good future. Thank you Ryan!
The morning of surgery we had to be at the hospital at 5:15 am. for 7:15 surgery. As we walked in to the waiting room there we were met by Bill's childhood friend Scott Grove. Oh, how we love Scott, just his surprise visit and him being there lifted our spirits so much. He waited with us the two hours, he kept us laughing about old times with Bill as a teenager. ( he was a character) Joy also came early to see her Dad off.
so sweet to have her there with me, it helped to pass the time so much easier.
Each one of our kids have been so concerned for thier Dad, it is so sweet to have them call us and tell of thier love and prayers for him and me.
Many friends and ward members were also praying for Bill's successful surgery, We appreciate it so much, and believe me we have felt those prayers.
Originally the surgery would have lasted about 4 1/2 hours, well, 7 hours later Bill was still in surgery! Whew, worry time, but I did feel he was in good hands and that they were just trying to be extra careful and exact. He was a guinea pig in that normally they do this surgery in two procedures but they wanted to do it in ONE. After nine hours I was able to see him and he had a smile on his face when I saw him, he felt wonderful, thank goodness for good drugs!
I however was spent! nine hours of waiting did me in, I stayed with him for a couple of hours and then I went across the street to the Ayres Hotel and crashed!
Unfortunately during the night Bill got very nauseated and threw up and was miserable. I wouldn't have been able to stay with him because he was in an ICU ward.
I got back to the hospital at 8:00 am and he was still sick to his stomach, ( not much pain in his head though) after he threw up they gave him a shot for nausea and he fell asleep, then he was able to eat and started feeling better.
We left the hospital around 3:00 pm and we were both so happy to be home.
Bill has been so strong to go through all of this, We feel very blessed that we got the surgery and that he doesn't seem to have any effects from surgery other than nausea and some pain from his chest where they inserted the battery pack,

Jayne, We are so grateful that the surgery went well, and that you are home. Thanks for posting! And...we love the pic with Bill and his hair! It made us smile.
